2014 iSR Forum
Objective
The Asian Games recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. This historic milestone for sports in the Asian region and the broader Olympic Movement offers a unique opportunity to reflect upon and assess the achievement of the Asian Games and the spirit of the Olympic Movement in the region. The importance of the centennial anniversary of the first multi-state sporting event in Asia is also reinforced by the broader geopolitical changes and the rising importance of Asia in international affairs.
The 2014 iSR Forum will gather scholars, International Olympic Committee (IOC) members, and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) officials to South Korea during the 17th Asian Games in Incheon in order to rekindle discussions on sports and the Olympic Movement in Asia.
Discussions with be structured around two main sessions. The first session will broadly outline some of the most important and pressing contemporary issues facing the Olympic Movement in Asia. The second session will offer comparative perspectives of other regions and sports-related institutions to discuss the future of the Olympic Movement in Asia.

The growing prominence of Asia in the world stage calls for its new role in the broader Sports Movement. With the growing interest in hosting and organizing multi-state sports events in the region as well as the emerging trend to embrace the values of sport for the betterment of mankind, it is both timely and essential to discuss about the past, present, and future of the Olympic Movement in Asia.
The 2014 iSR Forum will serve as a platform for discussion on Olympic Movement and Leadership of Asia, though which the Olympic spirit will be rekindled in the region.
